Strategy for Sustainable Living

Strategy for Sustainable Living

In 1991, World Conservation Union, UN Environment Program and World Wide Fund for Nature put together a Strategy for Sustainable Living. Their Principles of a Sustainable Society are:

  • Respect and care for the community of life;
  • Improve the quality of human life;
  • Conserve the Earth’s vitality and diversity;
  • Minimise the depletion of non-renewable resources;
  • Keep within the Earth’s carrying capacity;
  • Change personal attitudes and behaviour;
  • Enable communities to care for their own environment;
  • Provide a national framework for integrating development and conservation;
  • Create a global alliance.
